Immortal Technique: 24 Years After 9/11 – Lies, Loss, and the Price of Fear

Immortal Technique has never shied away from speaking truth to power, and on the 24th anniversary of September 11th, his words cut through the silence and propaganda that still cloud that day. First published on his Instagram account, this reflection dismantles the lies that followed the attacks, exposes the cost of endless war, and reminds us how fear was weaponized to strip away freedom while fueling empire.

The September 11th attacks were 24 years ago today… The subsequent “War on Terror” didn’t make any of us any safer. We were promised security, instead we were welcomed into the 21st century with a bevy of lies. Before the lies that brought us to war in Iraq the first lie they told was that the air was safe to breathe. It wasn’t and they knew it wasn’t. Here’s an interesting fact, more NYPD and FDNY died of 9/11 related illnesses than have died in the line of duty since 9/11/01.

We traded our freedom (unwillingly myself) for a false sense of security. If you think about it nobody won. Only the weapon companies made bank. The people whose countries we invaded they were living in a corrupt government but a functional one. We left them living in a hellscape of murder, rape and ethnic cleansing. Now they are still living in the same US backed autocratic regimes and their countries were absolutely decimated. This ensures that there will be no regional power in the Middle East without the United States approval.

Something else no one talks about it how after 9/11 the US weapon imports went up and they became the biggest supplier of weapons to the region.

In the last year. I’ve seen countless school shootings, mass killings, dead babies in Gaza and so I’m not shocked when I see someone killed. I don’t venerate death but I also don’t tell people how to feel… The only time I’m shocked is when I see people who have said nothing about deportations or thousands of children with their bones sticking out of their bodies crushed under rubble, those people who claim to stay out of all politics all of sudden say “violence has no place in American politics.”

Political violence is interwoven into our history and I dare say our culture. Today is a sad day because after 9/11 we didn’t get any justice. No one who had to jump out of a burning building was “avenged” they just used your anger and your fear to plunder the Middle East, vilify Islam and  export regime change and genocide to the rest of the world.
