Icewear Vezzo truly embodies the spirit of Detroit, characterized by relentless  determination and hard work. He’s taken a blue-collar approach to reach the pinnacle of his career. Starting with his influential Clarity mixtape series, he worked his way up to a deal with Motown Records. Along the way, he tirelessly released the Rich of Pints collection as an independent artist, solidifying his reputation. By teaming up with Quality Control and collaborating with DJ Drama to produce “Paint the City,” his journey reflects the essence of sacrifice.

“Love In The City,” Icewear Vezzo’s late-summer offering, masterfully blends the raw sentiments of desperation, paranoia, depression, risk, and hopelessness with the contrasting elements of prosperity, family, and the highest point of life in Detroit. This artistic endeavor provides a striking depiction of both the city’s character and Vezzo’s own identity.

“Love In The City” stands out in several ways. The synergy between Vezzo’s flow and Helluva’s melodic masterpiece is akin to a musical epiphany. It sparks curiosity about what a full-length project from this duo might sound like, considering Helluva’s versatility as a producer and the potential to elevate Vezzo to the ranks of the rap elite.

With its surprising infusion of soulful melodies, the captivating chemistry between Vezzo and Helluva, and the unadulterated cinematographic artistry of Boomin Films this track was destined to become a summer anthem. Unfortunately, we had to wait until late in the season for its release.

Helluva’s beat captures the essence of summer, and Vezzo offers a glimpse of a side we rarely get to see. Vezzo has perfected his skills over the distinctive muddy beats that define Detroit’s sound, a style often emulated, but seldom equaled in the rap world.

We’re in need of more introspective tracks that create an emotional response, and “Love In The City” by Icewear Vezzo delivers precisely that.
