I have a love-hate relationship with Drink Champs, the popular podcast hosted by Queens-based rapper Noreaga and DJ EFN. On the one hand, I love seeing legendary figures from arguably the greatest era in Hip-Hop receive their well-deserved recognition. The candid conversations provide a raw and unfiltered glimpse into some of the most pivotal moments in Hip-Hop history, making it a compelling listen for fans and enthusiasts alike.
However, there are aspects of the podcast that diminish the experience for me. While “hate” might be too strong a word, I find Noreaga’s tendency to stumble through incomplete thoughts frustrating at times. More concerning, though, is watching him indulge in endless blunts and shots throughout the episodes. I understand the podcast’s brand—it’s called Drink Champs for a reason—but there’s no need for Noreaga to embody the title to such extremes.
As a fan, I want to see him prioritize his health and longevity. Noreaga is the heart and soul of Drink Champs, and without him, the show simply wouldn’t exist. Preserving his well-being is crucial not just for the show’s continuity but for the broader contributions he makes to the culture.
That said, I recently watched the episode featuring the founders of FUBU—FUBU Founders on Building a Fashion Legacy, Untold Stories, Struggles, Future & More—and I found it to be exceptional. The episode struck the perfect balance of business insight, hip-hop history, and candid storytelling. It was both highly informative and inspiring, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit that continues to shape the industry.
